3 Nov 2004 - Year 9 Football Vs Glan y Mor

Match against Glan Y Mor : 2 November 2004

Bryngwyn 8 - 2 Glan Y Mor

The Bryngwyn boys were quietly confident before the match started, and they knew that one more win would see them through to the next stage of the cup. It was quite a late start and the light was failing fast but we managed to get a full game.

Bryngwyn started slowly and it took them about 5 minutes to get going and get the passes right. Once they found their rhythm it began to look more and more likely that they would score. Good midfield play led to the first goal scored by Mark Gee playing up front alongside Johnny Thomas. Another goal was scored by Jonathan not long after. Bryngwyn seemed to have the game under control.

Five minutes after the second Bryngwyn goal Glan Y Mor gained possession in the heart of the Bryngwyn defence and their attacker fired a goal past Rob Bowen. After a few more good saves from Rob, Bryngwyn went looking for a third. Some excellent play saw Leigh Williams score the third before half time.

Half time score 3-1.

At half time Jamie Herbert came off for Daniel Perkins after a solid display in defence and Nathan Banfield replaced Mark Gee. James Thomas went up front alongside Jonathan Thomas. The second half saw some more excellent play and further goals were scored by James (pen), Mathew Lellii, Nathan Banfield and two more from Jonathan Thomas (another Hat-trick).

To sum up, another solid and commanding performance from Bryngwyn. Will it continue when they meet better opposition in the next round?
