Art Department Year 7 Information

PUPIL GROUPINGS -

Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups except for those who have particular special needs.
WHAT IS TAUGHT -

All groups follow the same project. The work is in three units. The first deals with line and tone - observational drawing, tonal drawing and tonal qualities in paint. The artist Van Gough is studied. In unit two, pupils look at patterns from different cultures: Welsh artists and aboriginal artists. In unit three, pupils develop their drawing and painting skills using different materials to depict scenes from the locality.
HOMEWORK -

A minimum of 1 hour per fortnight. Work is regularly assessed and positive feedback is given on progress.
HOW PROGRESS IS ASSESSED -

Pupils' work is marked regularly and recorded on individual pupil assessment sheets. End of unit tests and pupil self assessments are also included.
OTHER INFORMATION -

Pupils' interest in the subject is extended through additional extra-curricular activities. Art workshops are also held for pupils during the
'Activities Week' at the end of the Summer Term.
