Art Department Year 8 Information
Pupil groupings
Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups except for those who have
particular special needs.
What is taught
Autumn Term: *FACES*- Studying the work of Michelangelo and Picasso.
Introducing pupils to mixed media.
Spring Term: *SCULPTURE* - Looking at the work of two sculptors-
Henry Moore and Alberto Giacometti- working with 3D materials.
Summer Term: Developing drawing skills; introducing pupils to a range of materials and experimentation.

Set fortnightly in line with projects, except for Artists Studies, for
which more time is allowed according to criteria of study.
How progress is assessed
* Work is assessed formally each half term by pupil assessment sheet and self assessment. (marks recorded on these sheets).
* End of unit test given at end of each term to assess understanding and skills.
Summer Exam based on 2 tests
a) drawing exam
b) theory exam.
