History Year 7 Information

Pupil Groupings

Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups except for particular special needs.

What Is Taught

Study Unit 1 covers "Wales and Britain in the medieval world
c.1000-c.1500. Pupils are taught about the characteristic
features of medieval society and the particular significance of
this period of history for Wales. The main focus areas are:

The impact of the Normans;
Aspects of medieval society;
The international dimension of the medieval world;
Homework

Homework is set on a regular basis as a way of enhancing
pupils' independence by developing research strategies and
study skills.

How Progress Is Assessed

Progress is assessed using a
range of tasks and activities.
Tasks are marked using
"levels of response" schemes
which lead to a final
judgement on the Key Stage 3
level at the end of year 9.
Other
Information

Pupils are encouraged to produce examples of extended
writing during the course - e.g. Gerald`s Journey around
Wales in 1188.
