Pupil Groupings

Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups except for those who have particular special needs.

What is taught

Study Unit 3 - Wales in Industrial Britain c. 1760 - c. 1900
Pupils are taught about the social, economic, political and technological transformation of the period: Industrialisation and its effects, working and living conditions, parliamentary reform, political protest.
Study Unit 4 - The Twentieth Century World: The Impact of World War One
Homework

Homework is set on a regular basis as a way of enhancing pupils' independence by developing research strategies and study skills.

How progress is assessed

Progress is assessed using a range of tasks and activities. Tasks are marked using 'levels of response' schemes which lead to a final judgement on the Key stage 3 level at the end of year 9.

Other Information

Pupils will embark on a local study of the Rebecca Riots as part of the topic on political protest
