Learning Support Department

Welcome to the Bryngwyn School Learning Support Department!

We all experience difficulties in our learning from time to time. The Learning Support Department at Bryngwyn School helps more able pupils to develop their skills, as well as pupils who may have a problem in their learning at a particular time.

There is an Earlybird Club where pupils can develop their reading skills and use the SuccessMaker Programme. The SuccessMaker Programme is a popular way to improve reading and spelling using ICT. We also have a Tuesday Twilight Club where pupils of all abilities work on their spelling skills in a fun-filled supportive atmosphere!

Pupils in Year 10 act as Reading Buddies to Year 7 pupils and the Literacy Project helps other pupils in Year 7 to improve their higher order reading skills, which enables them to approach more difficult texts in a more confident manner.

More able pupils meet weekly at 'The Great Expectations Club' and follow an enrichment programme which has included dissecting a rat, a fun chocolate game, travels in Nepal and a Headmistress Question Time!

Our Monday Club helps pupils to develop their social skills through group activities and outings. They visited the fire station last term and had a great time finding out about a day in the life of a fireman.
