Learning Support Year 9 Information
Pupil groupings
Two smaller special needs classes in year 9 provide a high level of individualised support and guidance for pupils who would benefit from such a provision. We aim to provide a positive and sensitive environment in which all achievement is recognised and all talents valued. English and mathematics are time-tabled at the same time as main stream classes and pupils are allocated to a teaching group in these subjects appropriate to their ability.
What is taught?
Pupils in the Learning Support Department follow the full National Curriculum with work set at an appropriate level for their ability in each subject. Some pupils will have access to the Success Maker Programme in order to strengthen their literacy and/or numeracy skills. The department operates an 'open door' policy so that pupils who have any problems with their work can visit before school, lunchtimes or after school for support from our staff
