Mathematics Year 9 Information
Pupil Groupings
Pupils are set based on the results of the year 8 module tests and the end of year examinations.
All pupils study the topics appropriate to their level of entry for the SAT's (i.e.5-7, 4-6, 3-5)
What is taught
Level 3-5 pupils study further the following topics:- numeracy, decimals, fractions + percentages, algebra, handling data, transformations, probability, perimeter/area/volume, time, angles, number patterns and co-ordinates.
In addition Level 4-6 pupils will study :-trial and improvement, the circle, scatter diagrams, equations, bearings and frequency diagrams.
Level 5-7 pupils will also study:- Pythagoras' Rule, locus, further algebra-simultaneous equations, further probability, solids, trigonometry and cumulative frequency.

In the Spring Term pupils will be expected to complete numerous SAT past papers.
How progress is assessed
Assessment at the end of each module, a mock SAT exam (early Spring term, SATs (May) and an end of year exam.
