Religious Education Year 8 Information

Pupil groupings

Mixed Ability Groups in mainstream plus
two Special Needs classes.

What is taught

Module 1: Community: Pupils will study the roles and responsibilities
of religious leaders; different roles and responsibilities in the
Christian community.
Module 2: Story: Pupils will study Creation and Evolution; Adam and
Eve; Abraham; Moses; The Ten Commandments; The Great
Commandment in the Christian Faith; *Love is* I Corinthians

Module 3: People: Pupils will study Rites of Passage in Judaism; Bar
Mitzvah; humankind as the image of God; Jesus Christ the pilgrim;
the Christian Church as a pilgrim; The Beatitudes; Christian Prophets.
Module 4: Worship: Pupils will study signs, symbols, objects and
special clothing in worship; Jewish worship in the synagogue and at
home; worship as a celebration; prayer and worship in a Christian
community.

Homework

One homework per fortnight.

How progress is assessed

* Written exercises: classwork and homework
* End of module tests
* End of year examinations
