Technology Year 8 Information

Pupil groupings
Pupils are taught in mixed ability groups except for those who have
particular special needs.

What is taught
Three technology areas are covered in year 8. Pupils will complete the
extra 3 units not experienced in year 7. i.e. from
food technology, graphics, mechanisms, electronics, product design
and textiles.
There will be extra emphasis on Computer Aided Design and
Computer Aided Manufactures in each of the units studied.

Homework

Homework is based on specific issues within the subject content and
design folder related tasks. It will amount to approximately one hour
per week.

How progress is assessed

Progress is assessed on a National curriculum progression and internal
assessment process reflecting GCSE coursework i.e. 60% folder and
40% exam.

Other information

Pupils must ensure they are properly prepared for each lesson
e.g. Folders, equipment-pencils etc.
There could be a small charge for products produced.
